I’m a former Michigan resident. Thanks to Jenny Grandstand, I now live in Maryland. Both of our daughters moved back when they could. They shared a GEICO policy. One daughter moved out of state so the other called GEICO for her own policy. They said Michigan is so difficult they can’t do insurance online and sent her a paper application. After 19 days of waiting, I called with her and spent four hours over two days trying to work it out.
Michigan insurance is a joke. 10 years ago, I wrote a reform proposal and presented it to my Michigan legislators. One wrote back and said he agreed but it would never find traction
My proposal capped injury claims at $250k instead of unlimited and provided 5-10 year jail sentences if caught driving without insurance, thus eliminating uninsured motorist costs.
I called it the “I don’t care about your personal problems auto insurance reform bill.”
pay at the pump. Basic coverage and if you have a luxury or tricked out car buy a supplement. Illegals, slackards,.
I currently pay $89 a month for a 2003 Honda Accord.
I use to pay $54 until the politicians and Wall Street and the banks collapsed the economy. My insurance company is the same one except it changed hands twice and the rates went up each time. GM> AIG> 21st Century
Gov’t is the problem. Get gov’t to stop interfering and prices will come down.
