I agree: Greenfield is one of the very best analysts. Articles like this one, which make an unexpected but profoundly true point, are not unusual.
VDH is a great analyst, too, but his prose tends to get clunky. I tried to read “The Savior Generals,” after getting through his book on the Peloponnesian War, but I lost interest. If you diagram some of his sentences, you can see why he’s such a hard read!
I’m not as familiar with Bill Whittle, but I’ll look him up.
