My grandfather always said "
find a happy woman, and keep her that way". In other words, don't marry a woman that is generally unhappy and expect marriage will make her happy. Of course ladies, the same applies to potential husbands. I've seen this play out with several of my friends and it seems to hold true over time.
I married a happy one and we're still that way after 30 years.
