My father was born in July 1923. He dropped out of high school and enlisted in the navy when the war started. He was assigned to the sea bees and his bridging unit went into Normandy beach on d day plus 1.
He’s still with us.

One was Isoroku Yamamoto, Admiral of the Japanese fleet that pounced on the unaware and unprepared Americans at Pearl Harbor.Unprepared...I can agree. Unaware...that will take a certain amount of stretching to get to.
