I know Mattis assisted Petraeus in writing COIN. I can also understand them not wanting to kill them all.

“Petraeus was one of the two generals behind Field Manual 3-24, Counterinsurgency, that outlined the doctrine. Mattis was the other. “The two generals established an impressive rapport based on their shared understanding of the conduct of counterinsurgency and of the urgent need to reform their services to make them more capable of conducting this most difficult kind of war,” wrote John Nagl, a member of the manual’s writing team and author of Learning To Eat Soup With a Knife, a key text in the counterinsurgency canon.”

Biblically, if you do not protest verbally or fight the corruption of your own ideals (be willing to die for what is right), you are complicit. I want a war journal based on the view of the creator of all men. Any suggestions?

I do agree with his view of Iran and while not knowing his exact feelings about Beirut I think I share those, too.

Let’s hope Mattis sees the error of the ways. COIN was likely at some highup’s direction. Let’s go back to H&C and win wars again.

“Kill them all” or H&C is the time honored way wars have been won since recorded history began. COIN seems to have become the time honored way wars are either lost or stalemated with high body counts among our troops.
