That’s because it was. One of the few times the Axis worked, Germans sent all the specifications to Japan where they built their own version of the ME-262. Must not have been that good as the Germans sent a dismantled 262 and all of their uranium to Japan in one of the last subs out just before VE day. Sub was off Canada’s coast when it got orders to surrender. Two Japanese engineers on the German sub committed suicide as Japan hadn’t surrendered yet.

It was based on a description of an Me-262 by the Japanese Military Attache from his witnessing a display of the aircraft in 1944. The engine was based on the BMW-003 turbojet, which the Japanese apparently had some information on. The Me-262 used the JUMO-004.
