In Rome, all religion was looked at fondly as long as everyone gave a pinch on the alter to Caesar while saying, "KAISER KURIOS", (Caesar is Lord!) True Christians could not do so because Jesus Christ is the only true Lord and God. All other religions were able to do so because their god was one of many, with Caesar being yet another god. Therefore Christians were called atheists and seditious, because of their refusal to worship Caesar, their lack of an idol, and their refusal acknowledge the other gods. Some things never change...
