If ATT buys Time Warner, it picks up CNN unless the federal government requires CNN to be divested.
CNN’s ratings could be greatly improved if the network became less of a progressive propaganda vehicle. New corporate ownership, focused on the bottom line, might result in Jeff Zucker being replaced as head of CNN and a more pragmatic business executive taking charge.
With Fox moving left under management of the Murdoch sons, the opportunity exists for CNN to move the middle, start doing balanced reporting and real investigative journalism.
Fox News is alienating its audience and MSNBC owns the far left. CNN under new ownership and management has the opportunity to become a true “fair and balanced” network. Will ATT, or another new owner seize the opportunity? If ATT is forced to divest CNN to gain approval of the Time Warner acquisition, will a conservative billionaire buy CNN and change its news format? Stay tuned.
Perhaps, China could purchase CNN and make the initials-CNN- meaningful and accurate.
