Years ago I read a book (can't now recall the title) that described what was evidently an experiment conducted in England during WW II. Low-normal people (morons) were put on assembly line work because of the shortage of labor. They did very well at the monotonous, repetitive tasks they were given. The thrust of the book was, what happens to normal people who do this mindless, repetitive work? Do they become "moronized?" Maybe robots should replace humans in this kind of dehumanizing work.

Remembered the name of the book. "The Making of a Moron." Apparently out of print and not even available from Amazon.
