What nation destroys their own history??
Only totalitarian ones like Lenin, or Mao.
Even Hitler left century old monuments alone.
Europe has thousand year old monuments that often have crazy and embarrassing histories behind them. But instead of tearing them down, they dress up, poke fun at them and use them as an excuse to drink more beer.
People need to lighten up and embrace American History. The good, the bad and the ugly.

A monument to a historical event is different than an acknowledgement of a historical event.
The Democratic Party’s White Leauge insurrection should not be honored with a monument but should never be forgotten in history.
Why should we venerate treason?
Would Washington, Jefferson and company be called treasonous now if the revolution had failed? The winners write the history.
Destroying the past, just like ISIS, and for the same reasons.
