Highrises? What about low rises? You know 4 stories or so. There’s a lot more of them out there.

Very bug resistant. Back in the 50’s the roof trusses of houses around McClellan AFB, CA were built with redwood. However, 80yo redwood does not take nails or screws easily. The beams have cured so hard, they’re like iron. It’s almost a shame they’re hidden in the attic where no one can admire the patina.

A year or two ago a 4 story fully occupied “modern” wood frame aprtment building in NJ burned to the ground. Luckily no one suffered any sever injuries. A small fire starterd in the wall and spread to the wood framing.

Laminated wood beams went into our house, built in ‘02. Also, upright 2 x 4s were laminated pieces, cut to the exact need.

I understand a two story house is not the same at this place in Oregon.

They should mandate wooden cars.

Talk about 'going green'! LOL

What’s the melt temperature of the glue used to laminate the timbers?

Okay, something smells really salmonny. When libertards choose lumber over lattes, there has to be a reason. And there it is...MONEY

A friend who works for Nike told me that Oregon is experiencing a $1.6B state budget shortfall because rising pension costs.

Twenty years ago Oregon burned (excuse the pun) their timber industry and they now realize that its all they had. I guess their second largest agriculture sector, the flower industry, failed to bloom.

Oregon has nothing else it can export. They’re screwed !!

“And for the nose of a Polaris missile, Sitka spruce!”

Sitka spruce on a missile doesn't resonate.

Sitka spruce in a Gibson acoustic square-shouldered dreadnought - now that resonates.

Safer in a fire. Unlike steel, wood won’t melt in a fire. It maintains structural integrity until it burns through.

“The state is investing hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to promote CLT....”

And several other agencies of the state are investing millions of dollars pushing rabid environmental regulations and laws that should put the timber industry out of business ... of course, they can get the lumber necessary from Canada.

We should stop building our dwellings of flammable materials.
How many lives would be saved if there was an economical alternative to wood.
We should get away from wood, not build another Spruce Goose.

Being your name is Redmen, no doubt you have been in the Superior Dome. I was there when GW Bush held the rally there. I figured over 12 thousand at that event.

Been in there lots. Every home builders event I used to go.

Amazing place. And cant believe how big it is inside.

Wood, properly used, is fine if you keep people like General Sherman away from it.
