ou are right. No whistle blowers that we know of until recently. The Obama Administration came down heavily on leaks for a reason. Was the IC intimidated? Or were they partisan excusing the actions of a President they supported? Or were they just following orders as many Germans claimed during the Hitler regime?

None of these alternatives are acceptable. And the FISA courts are a joke with approval over 99% of the time. And what about Congressional oversight, which just appears to be a rubber stamp. The only time they got exercised was when the found out Brennan was tapping the Senators phones and computers. Maybe, Congress is afraid to hold the IC accountable because of what personal information the IC has on them.

We are on the cusp of a police state and one that has the technological tools to be the most repressive ever witnessed. We are giving up our privacy and individual rights in the name of the security. It is a slow, insidious process that will be difficult to reverse. We are at the mercy of whoever is at the controls.

This said, I don’t know why President Trump and his new FBI director are so against Assange. Assange and his leaks were one of the forces that helped to bring down Hillary. I believe Candidate Trump even called for Assange to release more emails...

Seems Assange, Circa, and Judicial Watch are the only things standing between Tyranny and our freedom.

Assange leaked over 500,000 State Department cables, many of them classified. They damaged our national security by revealing confidences between our diplomats and foreign leaders, ranking military officers, and national legislators. Besides being embarrassing to the foreign personnel (and possibly putting them in physical danger), they curtailed our ability to develop useful contacts with foreign leaders who cannot depend on us to keep these conversations confidential.

The cables also disclosed American strategic thinking and possible future actions. Assange is no friend of the US and he is dangerous to our interests. He is no hero. He belongs in jail.
