How many Rubber Bands does it take to Diable a 1911?

1911 enthusiasts tend to feel strongly about their pistol. Will the Ruger SR1911 pass the rubber band test?

What is the rubber band test you say?
Wrapping multiple rubber bands over the slide of the pistol tests the functioning operation, such as the cycling, firing and ejecting a round.

As concealed carry permits have grown in numbers, the question still remains: what exactly is the best self-defense firearm? Most permit holders look for a firearm that is reliable, has an immense amount of stopping power, and is quickly drawn. So this brings us to the question of the 1911.

YouTuber MattV2099 puts the classic Ruger SR1911 through the rubber band test with the goal wrapping the gun until it is effectively disabled. So how many rubber bands does it take to disable the 1911?

Finally, at 33 rubber bands, the Ruger SR1911 is disabled due to a failure to extract. See the 1911 rubber band footage here.

I would hesitate to dispense useful firearms information on a public website. Too many leftist lurkers can benefit from it and right now they are in training mode for more violence against the right. They can and will use whatever they get from us against us. These are not normal times.

What a dumb experiment. It’s like asking how many crab-apples can you stuff in your air cleaner before your engine stops.

I cannot see what 33 rubber bands correlates to.

Does this equate to how dirty and grimy the action can be before it stops ejecting? I had a 380 auto once that would not eject in freezing temps, is that what 33 rubber bands equates to?

My opinion is this is just Monday morning humor as this is stupid.

Perhaps “diable” indicates the next diabolical far-left plan to disable our 1911s. They will obey the Supreme Court, for now, and permit us to keep and bear arms, but they will require 33 rubber bands around the slide of a 1911, unless it is stored in a double-locked safe in a separate room from ammo in a separate double-locked safe, with the magazines in a third room and also double-locked in a safe. I can’t wait to see how many rubber bands will be mandated for my Remington 870.
