People who said they would not have voted for any other Republican nominee.

There are close to zero of those here. So I don't know who here you are trying to bash. There are many, however, who would not have voted for another Bush. Most of us would have gone along with a Cruz, although in my case, he really turned me off at the end of the primaries. He (and Ben Carson to some extent) were the only conservatives in the race other than Trump, but I realized early on that Cruz was just not going to be able to win any more states than Romney had. He was just too stiff and unlikeable. Rubio and Walker had some fans here. Most of the others, there may have been a lot of people who could not hold their nose again just to vote for another RINO. But most people would have eventually come around, if only because...Hillary!.

So, I think you are wrong to impugn FR by claiming a significant presence of OnlyTrump and that they were as bad as the nevertrumpers.

“So, I think you are wrong to impugn FR by claiming a significant presence of OnlyTrump and that they were as bad as the nevertrumpers.”

I’m getting kinda old, but I don’t recall impugning FreeRepublic or estimating the balance of NeverTrumpers -vs- OnlyTrumpers.

I made a statement that both attitudes are/were immature and I stand by that.

Then, when asked, I gave my definition of what is an OnlyTrumper. And I stand by that.

The assertions about what was/is in the minds of other Republican voters and who they would or would not have voted for in other circumstances - is totally up to you my man. Have at it.

I’d ask you to respond to the second assertion I made and the specific example I gave regarding the HFC -vs- the TrumpRyan crowd, but I’m off to dinner.

I’m voting my conscience against the RINOs in Congress. I invite President Trump supporters of all stripes to do the same. They are no friends of the President.

In an article about nevertrumpers, you had to create a new category of Trump supporter, the “OnlyTrump” and then equate the two, when there were almost no such OnlyTrump people ever in existence, and none here. NeverTrump was the problem and now we read that a good number of them are working with the democrats. They were never conservative, they just talked a good game.

I turned off Rush for three months during the primaries, he was that bad. So in the tank for Cruz, he did the very thing he promised he wouldn't. He hurt the future GOP nominee. We cut off Rush 24/7.

Once he got back on the train, it took me a while before thinking he was trustworthy again.

He and his brother have become full throated supporters, and that's important. They're welcome back, and good allies now.

I will always feel a bit betrayed by what he did. Won't forget.

"...almost no such OnlyTrump people ever in existence, and none here."

That is quite a statement. Certainly I would not agree.

Mythical beings or not in your mind, as long as you agree that an OnlyTrump attitude would be just as immature as a NeverTrump attitude, then I'm satisfied.

Regarding this statement:
"They were never conservative, they just talked a good game."

It could fit some of the NeverTrumpettes as well as Trump himself - depending on the topic.

The word "conservative" has a fairly subjective definition.

Regarding federal entitlement programs Trump is not, AT ALL, what people on a site devoted to Freedom would normally call a conservative - if the thing we wish to conserve is Freedom.

But at least he has not flip/flopped on that issue anyway. We already knew from the campaign that he is not a traditional conservative in that respect.

I don't like that aspect of Trump, but it is what it is and he won. He was totally wrong, from Freedom's perspective, on TrumpRyanCare 1.0 - disastrously wrong. And the HFC was right.

Trump has been wrong already on some stuff, Trump will be wrong on other stuff. But I don't disown him or anything. By the same token, he and his more devoted followers should not dismiss other good Republicans just because they don't always agree on strategies and bills.

I'm talking about the HFC, Cruz, Walker, guys like that who Trump has trashed along the way. They are good people and we should not try to purge them or anything.

When it comes to guys like McCain, Graham and, in recent years, Paul Ryan, then yes I would primary them. The first two have always been flaky. Paul Ryan started his career coming to town as the Donald Trump of entitlement reform in the sense that he was boldly going to tackle the issue like Trump boldly attacks immigration issues - Ryan was on a glorious mission to rid the federal level of entitlements. But, for whatever reasons, he went sour and/or soft on several issues and never was a very good leader.

Thanks for cracking the obvious and yet un noticed code:

Beware when it says, “R-SC,” “R-WI”, and “R-AZ.”

This election has been and continues to be a big wake up call for most of us on a daily basis.
