What a person does off the job on their own time is their own business. On the bosses time is another matter only to the degree that the employee is obviously impaired. Make a wrong accusation against an employee and fire a person unfairly and you open yourself up to a aw suit. I agree with you on a number of things dfwgator but I am not a ‘’drug warrior’’, the whole concept is pure bs and a way for the state to maintain and continually engage in an empty show of power. Which is not to say I don’t believe in DWI laws or selling drugs/alcohol to minors, I do. Nor to I believe addiction should ever be an excuse for committing crimes. I don’t. I believe in the complete legalization of drugs with their manufacture. sale and distribution controlled by the free market. One hundred plus years of trying to legislate morality has been a total failure., unless you’re a drug cartel than drug prohibition helps you eliminate a lot of competition. Ask yourself something, do you think drug dealers ask for id?

We don’t have enough information, and the statements in the article are dishonest.

The “big deal” is that her company could be a terrible place to work with poor compensation.

Sure, once the feds grow and liberties shrink we have lost. But many of those remaining in rust belt cities are below average in intelligence (after all, approximately half the country is), and if those with double-digit IQs also have poor character, then they become the social and economic basketcases that lead to more poor governmental solutions.

In Seattle, all the welders used to spend their lunch smoking crack one block over from the plant.

I used to watch them work like robots, it was like they were in a trance.

Just a safety disaster waiting to happen. I got out of there.

Folks in rust belt states are below average intelligence? Jeez, you aren’t judgemental are you? What a bigoted thing to say.

You don’t think there has been a decades-long brain drain to Silicon Valley, etc.?

Silicon Valley to my understanding is home to thousands of HB-1 visa holders who come primarily from India. You sure don’t see their kids ending up in rehabs and jails.

Maybe they should consider abolishing their drug testing policy altogether.

It might be mandates by their insurance company.

Except we know that this is a common dynamic. And drug-related deaths of course have been skyrocketing.

but you do in Britain, read Theodore Dalrymple’s (note his pen name!) works!

It would be a interesting sociology study as to why.

It isn’t a Mandate because that is flat out Illegal, only a Court as a result of a Criminal Conviction can “Order” a drug test, even then it is voluntary but a no show counts as positive.

It is an Enticement, they give you a much better rate if you follow all their worker safety standards.

It is super easy to trick a pee test.

My career is evidence of that.

Want to enter a lucrative, growth industry?:

Provide drug-free urine to others, for $35 per 4 oz. squeeze bottle.

Funny that. Did you ever get around a properly administered hair follicle test?

No, never did a hair test.

I’m told that they cost more than urinalysis, but I do not know.

Supposedly there is a shampoo designed to strip out all evidence of drug use from hair, but it is really bad for your hair.

I had to take a mouth swab test for employment once, and I got on the internet and found out how to defeat that type, also. It involves Altoids mints, mouthwash, and aggressive brushing of the mouth lining. I passed that one also.
