While I do not doubt that the area that you're moving to could be very conservative Tucson overall is extremely liberal/leftist. I lived in Tucson for 10 years going to undergraduate and graduate school from the mid 80s. Many Arizonans refer to Tucson a “the capital of North Mexico”. I visit Tucson for business about every other month and I can tell you that downtown Tucson has granola/emo/goth/barrio vibe and it is infested with people that look like they bought their clothes at Hot Topic and Urban Outfitters.

Don't get me wrong, Tucson is a and interesting and nice city but it's not a patriot's paradise. It has fantastic Mexican restaurants, a wealth of things to see, and is very close to some awesome wilderness.

If you find the heat too oppressive in the summer I highly recommend a day trip up to Mount Lemmon in the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson. The top of Mount Lemmon in a straight line is only about 15 miles from downtown Tucson but it's like being in Canada. At the start of the road at the bottom of the mountain you're in Sonoran desert surrounded by Saguaro cactus and at the top of the mountain you are at 8700 feet in a green Canadian Alpine paradise of Aspen and Blue Spruce.

Thanks for the advice re: Mount Lemmon. I have a view of Mount Lemmon from my front yard and the Catalinas from the back yard (or vice versa).

Anyone here have an opinion of Flagstaff? I’ve been trying to get Mrs. K.C. to think about moving there.

We live in S. CA near the Ocean so we seldom deal with really hot weather.

I hate the Politics here and my Wife just ignores it, so it’s pretty much me who wants to sell the House, take the money and run to freedom.

Have friends in Phoenix and in Prescott, but I just don’t find either place appealing.

Definitely not Phoenix, even though it is a dry heat, just like our Broiler.
