That was, and still is, the entire point of multiculturalism.
It was never about enhancement of the targeted host culture, it was always and only about dilution and destruction of that culture.
The lies and degeneracy of the left didn’t just start in the ‘60s. Socialist filth have been playing their destructionist games since at least the immigration wave from central and southern Europe starting around the early 1800s.
