The families of black church members who were murdered in Charleston by that little maggot Dylann Roof were given over 20 million dollars by Obama's DOJ after the shooting, because they were crime victims.
I wonder if any of these victims will receive anything?

How does being an "intellectual" have anything to do with the story?

I don't believe you meant to disparage Trump but that 'added tidbit" is exactly what the MSM does when it has to do a story that says something good about Trump.

I seem to have unwittingly picked at a scab here :-) so I'll try to explain what I was thinking in the seven minutes before my online shift begins...

Full disclosure: I am a minor-league intellectual who came from a family of Truman Democrats; as a college student I ran with the McGovern intellectual crowd, until, to put it unintellectually, I grew up, though it has only been in the last decade or so that I realized that we were being conned by the intellectuals in the GOP.

John Adams, who originated the "honest and wise" statement, was an intellectual in his day, as was his successors Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe, but they bought into Locke and Aristotle as well as (in varying levels) Jesus and Paul, and that is a good combination to promote honesty and wisdom--they weren't always honest and they didn't always make wise decisions, but that was their aim.

When the Founders generation died, symbolically on July 4, 1826, with the simultaneous deaths of Adams and Jefferson, however, intellectuals in general abandoned Locke and Aristotle for Hegel and Plato, and over time abandoned Jesus and Paul for either Marx or Nietzsche, and ever since then intellectualism has been a barrier to wisdom rather than a path to it.

One proof of this is that the better Presidents since Andrew Jackson tend to have been unintellectuals such as Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt on his non-progressive days, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump, while our worse Presidents have tended to be, or have attempted to be, intellectuals, such as Woodrow Wilson, FDR with his "brain trust," Jimmy Carter, and the most recent pseudo-intellectual, Barack Obama.

I, like most Americans, have watched over the last few months the way Trump has responded to a series of disasters, including Harvey, my own Irma, Maria, and the Las Vegas massacre, plus the threats from North Korea and elsewhere, and all of his actions have been honest and wise, while the reactions of the media-Democrat cabal have been dishonest and stupid. I would like to think that at least the majority of Americans are seeing this as well, but I fear I know better.

Gracious response - I'd wager some were pretty acerbic but mainly because they sensed a possible "praiseful slam" against Trump. I just wanted to point out that some seemingly (and likely) innocent words can set some of us off due to all the concern trolls always looking for a reason to disparage "The Donald".
