Democrats in a Democrat city seek to maximize the illusion of McCain's worth. To them, the only good Republican is a traitor who sides with Democrats as often as humanly possible.
Back in the 60s, 70s and 80s when the French hated America and sneered at American tourists, especially those who spoke French to them, their cultural idol was the late Jerry Lewis. His obnoxious, loud slapstick best represented Americans to them. (shudder)
