I would defend Moore simply on the grounds that the moral/ethical qualifications for being a US Senator, up until now, are so low that these attacks on Moore MUST be about something else.
If Edward Kennedy, the “Lion of the Senate”, could be honored by his colleagues and by multiple Presidents, receive a high requiem Mass upon his death and be buried among actual American heroes, not JUST at Arlington Cemetery but in a SPECIAL, CONSPICUOUS MONUMENT THERE - well, none of them have the right to say “boo” about anything Judge Moore said or did 40 years ago.
Put that way, the whole thing is absurd.
I pointed out last week in my blog post on Moore that we honor a man every January with a national holiday.
A man I admire I might add.
A man quoted by four FBI technicians as saying “I’m f***ing for God” when he held an orgy with two prostitutes in January 1964.
His sexual activities were again in the news recently with the JFK Assassination document dump.
This character assassination on sex will keep on hurting people if we don’t put it in perspective.
