I think you're right. We're witnessing the effect of all the brainwashing since early Clinton, around 1992. Constant and it's almost like a cultural thing now to politicize everything. Everyone has an opinion, everyone now thinks fighting against ‘the system’ is cool. ‘Whatever is must be changed’ for the better and similar tomes. Cut and paste phrases, feelings over thought, hollywood, pop culture. . many factors. Yes, I was just talking to a friend the other day about how it is now impossible to talk to people who are democrats, who are on the left. There is no reasoning with them. One is not even allowed to question their views. No matter what is discussed, what facts are considered, a person on the left will not be persuaded.

My friend said he was talking to a person on the left who told him to stop, that his mind was made up, and nothing could be said or revealed that would cause him to listen to anything other than what agreed with his settled view.

I believe the brainwashing started long before 1992. Remember the 1971 commercial, I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke”? The plan for harmony was global rule by the elite. Reagan disrupted the plan but GHW Bush resurrected it with his “Points of Light”.
Remember the Iran - Contra / Mena Airport drops were both Bush and Clinton. Bush was far more successful hiding his corruption than Clinton.
