Prior to the tragic boating accident I owned at least four modern (semiautomatic) handguns: an FNX-45, a Taurus 9mm, a Ruger 9mm and a two Ruger .22LRs (oh, wait, that makes five, including the ones I cannot remember right now).
None of those weapons are as easy for me to disassemble and clean as my 1911s [were].
1. To be fair, NOBODY can disassemble a Ruger MarkII. It’s theoretically impossible and has never been done. Stephen Hawking is in a chair because he attempted it.
2. THE FNX-45 disassembles by rotating a lever. Same as SIG P225/226/228/229. This is probably the simplest disassembly routine out there. I can think of no other disassembly which is quicker or more simple.
3. Not sure of which Taurus 9mm, but the legacy series uses the Beretta action, which requires that you push a button while rotating a lever. Almost no slower than the SIG/FN action.
None of the modern semi-autos require the removal of a bushing or the removal of a pin. By putting the MarkII on the list, you’ve guaranteed that at least the 1911 isn’t the slowest.
