If you’re dividing 10 by 3 to get 33%, why aren’t you dividing 10 by 5 to get 20%?
The math is done the same way for all of the numbers:
1 / 10 = 0.1
0.1 × 100 = 10%
2 / 10 = 0.2
0.2 × 100 = 20%
3 / 10 = 0.3
0.3 × 100 = 30%
4 / 10 = 0.4
0.4 × 100 = 40%
etc.

So what? 10 divided by 3 is 3.3333333.

OMG. All your protestations are wrong. Sorry.
3 out of 10 shootings were done by Moslems. “out of” is another code for “divided by”. So to get the % (which means “per 100, or divided by 100” and leads to a decimal form before multiplying by 100) one must divide 3 by 10.
Which gets the decimal 0.3, which means 30% (.3 x 100).
So yes, the math in the article is wrong. The closest way to get 33% was for it to be 3 out of 9 incidents!
