I’ve been saying that since my note 27.
Can’t you take yes for an answer? Or are you, too, in a mood to badger people tonight?
Yes, you keep repeating yourself. What you keep repeating makes no sense — Calling something a ‘quibble’ doesn’t make it any less incorrect.
The original article has an error but you don’t think so. You’re wrong. Sorry for trying to badger you into understanding how to calculate percentages. Enjoy your ignorance.
WE MUST SAVE THE DANIEL GREENFIELD THREAD!
Greenfield made a mistake in his calculation in one line in the article and said 3 out of 10 is 33% which is an error and a couple of days ago, a guy from American Thinker referenced Greenberg's article and propagated the error.
(By the way, Greenfield's erroneous line was: "...In the last decade, there were only 10 major mass shootings where the death toll went into the double digits. Three of those were carried out by Muslim terrorists. Thats all the more remarkable since Muslims make up less than 1% of the United States population, but account for 33% of major mass shootings...")
In exactly this same fashion, too. I can't tell you how much it made me grin to see the pattern repeat itself! (and be totally irrelevant to the point at hand!)
It is important to remember that 3 out of 10 or 30 out of 100 is the classical definition of "percent".
(X (3) divided by Y (10)) times 100 = 30%
When I read it fast initially, I was conflating 1/3 of 100 with 30%. I think the other author used the same
You are quite right...it completely gets us at cross purposes with the overall message of the article!
On the positive side...we pay attention to the statistics, even if we DO get them wrong...:)
Sob...I was too late...I think it is dead, Jim...
Maybe now when you are sober:
What percentage of 10 is 2?
What percentage of 10 is 4?
Do you have a link to the other thread? I’d love to know if we have anyone else here who will argue math facts.
Heh, arguing with math is like spitting into the wind...if you are wrong!
The thread is at: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3635408/posts
But I think everyone there either gave up or decided there was no more to say.
I admit I found it humorous to get a deja vu when I read this thread today! I won’t introduce all my personal anecdotes into this one...I suspect that is what may have contributed to the thread’s untimely death...
At least you quickly realized you mistake and admitted it.
We all make mistakes. Those that wont admit it lack character.
That is how it was, then the second I clicked the "Post" button, my brain was catching up and saying "Wait...what..."
Lol, post already out the door.
Which of the four example countries mentioned run the safest airports?
