But Christ died for her too.
He forgave his torturers and the people who brutally murdered him. We are commanded to do the same. As stated in the Our Father, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. God will forgive us in the measure that we forgive others.
The parable of the unmerciful servant comes to mind.
I was bullied from elementary school through high school. I have been betrayed, abandoned and unforgiven. I am using lent as an opportunity to pray for the health and well-being of all of my enemies. It is truly freeing.
Remember forgiveness is not saying everything you did to me is okay, rather, it is letting go of the hate that can eat us alive.
To be honest I don’t spend a moment thinking about her.
I don’t feel any compulsion to forgive her, and am content to just let her rot in the pile of feces that is her life now.
