I think we should listen to these kids...
I mean who doesnt want to live in perpetual sunshine, eat rose petals and drink dandelion tea...Frolic in the nice morning mist and live having fun all the time...No nasty old gun thingies to worry about and if we need money, Mommy and Daddy can just go to the bank and get us some...
Ahhh...The life!!! If we only listen to the kids...
I agree.
We need to listen to what our children think, then as PARENTS and Adults, enlighten them to the realities of their world.
As you say, in a perfect world, there would be no need for guns. We don’t live in a perfect world. So we prepare and train for people who do not play by the rules, do not obey the law, or are unable to judge between right and wrong. There is a saying in mine and many other families
“Lord, let me live long enough for my children (who know everything) to finally realize, that they don’t.
As children get older, they are generally amazed at how wise their parents really are. Its our job to keep them alive until they are smart enough to survive on their own.
So listen to them, understand their point of view, and when necessary, instruct them on the errors in their reasoning, and explain why. If they are reasonable, they will listen, if they are not....Revert to rule 1, protect them until they do.
As my Dad used to say, in our family it is not a democracy, you will do what I say, and follow our rules, as if your life depended on it, because it does. In return, I will love and cherish you forever.
So Children of America, we will listen to you, and then we will protect you from lawbreakers, murderers, molesters, criminals, and those would would do you harm. Whether you like it or not. When you are on your own, you can make decisions and live with the consequences. Until then, its my job, and I will not relinquish it to you or anybody else.
Oh, and remember, I love you with all my heart.
Bank? Gee, in my magic meadow Mommy and Daddy pick money off the trees because my Mommy and Daddy say that’s where money grows! :-)
