Jesus told us that where two or more are gathered in His name, there is He in the midst of them. When we gather to make our bread and wine remembrance of Him, HE IS THERE. Not as an unrisen dead man whom you could eat to get life via your alimentary tract, but as the RSIEN LORD. Jesus is there in our midst to have HIS SPIRIT give life, spiritual life renewal. It is The Spirit who gives life. The flesh profiteth nothing.

He is not in the Supper. He is in Heaven, and "priests" cannot invoke Him to come from that sphere to this. The Breaking of Bread in Remembrance is just that: showing forth His deat TILL HE COME (1 Cor. 11:26). Who Is here is my indwelling Comforter, continually drawing my attention to Him, Who is in Heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father.

The things you are saying not only do not make sense, they impugn the truth of the Bible.

Sorry, FRiend. You are missing the entire point of the discussion. It has nothing to do with whether the elements are barley or wheat, or a routine meal. It is whether Christ Himself is actually present (not simply represented) in the bread & wine.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate how you went to the example of the first church practices to make your point. You also reminded us how a specialized priesthood has evolved from such. ("Beware the leaven of the Pharisees.") It's ironic that the Lord used the term "leaven" to underscore his point.

Lest any nominal believer consider this an inconsequential debate he should note that martyrs have been burned at the stake for denying transubstantiation. Two are listed below.

There is the story of Joan Trunchfield. She was condemned for denying the doctrine of the real presence in the Lord’s Supper. During imprisonment and execution she found the strength to hold to her convictions and call the Catholic Church corrupt compared to scripture.

Anne Askew was arrested in 1545 and was initially coercedto provide a confession while also demonstrating religious knowledge and infuriating her interrogators. When she was placed in custody a second time and sent to the Tower of London for torture, she stood firm in her religious beliefs until she was sentenced to die. The most important part of his description is where she was being bound to the stake, unable to stand under her own power, and proceeded to declare her “full belief in the scriptures, sufficient for salvation; but the mass, as then used, she rejected as abominable idolatry.”

.
Your confusion is common to those that read men's words over the word of Yehova.

Yeshua is present with his sheep in all things.

Matthew 28:

[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
[20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Transubstantiation is man made hocus pocus that has no purpose. It is sorcery and deception. The RC “priesthood” is what Yeshua warned his sheep against in his denunciation of the Nicolaitans.

.
It “could have happened to anyone” if that “anyone” were called to record the most detailed epistle explaining the Way of Yeshua.

But only John put it all in writing.

There is no confusion here. If you would take the trouble to read these posts over again, you'd see that my position from the beginning was strongly against the Catholic position of transubstantiation. But I should not be surprised because you frequently rush to post your half-baked opinions alleging that I hold the very opposite opinion to the one I have stated.

But I've had trouble with you before and should know better than to post anything at all to you. And I will not be very surprised if you construe this post as endorsing the existence of UFOs and an alien base in the Antarctic.

I take it that your dinner didn’t agree with you.

My appologies if I gave the impression that I thought you to be a proponent of witchcraft or flying saucers.
