I had both eyes done around 10 years ago. The first one was a piece of cake, the second one done a week later was a little painful. I actually think they forgot to give me more than a general anesthesia.

Around 2 weeks later they tested me and both eyes were 20/15. The girl said I might even be better but that was the lowest the machine would go and I seemed to read it pretty easily.

I had forgotten how yellow everything had gotten. Afterwards everything was clean.

Prior to my cataract surgeries, I could drive fine at night. I didn’t understand why everyone else was complaining about xenon headlights, or HID lights or the super bright lights all new trucks have. That didn’t bother me.

But after my surgery... Oh my.

It’s true for me, and I suppose most cataract patients. After surgery you are surprised at how much brighter things are. After the cloudy lenses are removed.

I heard that a cataract patient can ask for tinted lenses. A few years ago, when asked for a green- or red- tinting for coating my regular eyeglasses, I went for red.

Everyone looked so tanned and healthy, it cheered me up!
