I remember when a Texas Instrument device cost more money than only a few lucky kids in school could afford. The rest of us were stuck with slide rules.
Last year I bought a nice calculator for five bucks. Somewhere I have a Mickey Mouse one that still works after 20 years...
Amazing times. I made the first microprocessor with on chip ROM and RAM, the worlds brightest LEDs, a photodiode so sensitive it forced NBS to recalibrate their standards, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
