Mark was/is an avid anti-Trumper. He’s part of the Republican elite cabal members.
I don't object to his long term goals. I just would never seek his counsel on how to get there.
US taxpayers spent $22 billion last year subsidizing dairy famers.
Gad, sir, when a man is tired of Levin, a man is tired of life!
You know what? I felt the same way listening to him on my way home. Leave work at 6, and he fills the time. Mark is great with the Constitution and history, but my experience has been he blows big ones when talking about economics.
Granted...in a pure world tariffs are not desirable. We’ve been jacked around by everyone else for so long it’s time to jab a stick in the opponent’s eye... hopefully temporarily.
Did not go past the first hour of him as my ride home was done, but holy poop...with an impending finish to the Korean War at hand he opens with tariffs?
What a douche.
I was done with him when he was pushing an ineligible Cubanadian for President.
Mark lets his emotions cloud his logic sometimes. When Trump got into the row with the blonde bimbo, Levin was harping about Trump disrespecting women, when the bimbo was using opposition research to squash Trump's candidacy. The bimbo was supposed to be interrviewing Trump, not attacking based on sly research.
It took Levin way too long to get on the Trump bandwagon.
Levin is still one of the good guys, but occasionally he gets big headed and pretends to himself that he has all the answers to everything.
He frequently complains about not getting credit for doing the heavy lifting when it comes to conservative radio, yet he fails to recognize when he is out of his depth. And such is the case when talking about Trump’s economic policy.
Trump is a very shrewd and accomplished business man. He does not need ivy tower theory when he has roll-up-your-sleeves and get the job done, hands-on experience.
My suggestion to the naysayers is to give him a chance to prove his methods will work. So far it seems they are being very successful.
Mark is a lawyer who thinks he’s an economist.
Henry Kissinger wrote a 2 volume journal of his time working for Richard Nixon. The main point I remember was his observation on how democrats wanted to negotiate with Communists. They always wanted to start negotiations by giving up something to show good faith. The communists viewed this as weakness and pushed and always wound up getting the better end of the deal.
Nixon and Kissinger went into negotiations with a completely different approach. They started out by making demands as opposed to concessions.
I think the President is using a similar strategy. No country is going to surrender an advantage over us unless they are faced with losing something.
And when you get down to it those other countries need us more than we need them so it makes sense for us to bargain tough with them.
Levin is to trade negotiations what the democrats were to negotiating with communists in the 70s.
Levin is extremely intelligent and I wouldnt want to debate him but he has been deficient when it comes to understanding Trump.
I used to like Levin, but since Trump entered the political arena officially he has seemed to slip from the constructionist like Scalia that I once thought he was, to something else.
I recall how he recently misunderstood, or cared not to understand, a ruling penned by Gorsuch, even though the basis of its thinking was earlier formulated in a case penned by Scalia years ago. Unlike a constitutionalist, Levin was looking at the mere consequences of the ruling, and not its fidelity to the Constitution, or not.
Levin was looking ONLY, to his mind I believe, that the case, on the surface, involved an immigrant prosecuted for a crime; and ranted only about the powers the state (federal) had a right to in such matters.
Gorsuch was focused on the particular law the case was about and the Constitution, and found that law was trumped by Constitutional rights that the saw the law had so much wiggle room in it that it is merely men (in the executive) and not the law, that determines prosecution is warrented or not. Gorsuch asked, rightly, how can a law be said to be enforced justly with equal protection for all. If the terms of a law are too indeterminent there is no way it can obtain “equal” enforcement. In spite of that Levin ranted and ranted how Gorsuch was just “protecting” immigrants who commit crimes.
A Constitutional rules for the Constitution and not for some immediate political or legal outcome in particlar.
Maybe he never read Scalia’s thoughts on Roe V Wade either. Scalia was opposed to Roe but admitted it was not his opinion that states could not on their own have laws permitting abortion, but that it was not a federal matter.
Scalis found no Constitutional basis for either outlawing it or demanding it be legal. The Constitution was mute on it as far as Scalia thought. Oh the outcry I remember from some Conservatives when those comments came from Scalia. Maybe Levin was one of them at time. Like Gorsuch Scalia was a Constitutionalist for the Constitution, not for particular outcomes per se.
Face it Mark. A “Free Trade” Republican can no longer win 270
I’ve lived without Levin for many years. Life will go on.
Levin is not on the radio in my area, thus I don’t listen to his show.
But he is only tolerable in small doses anyway.
I bet you have a major trade deficit with your grocery store. I bet you buy a lot more from them than they buy from you.
Levin is a libertardian. He rides the short bus to his radio gig every day.
Now, now...
He’s correct on 95% of everything else.
I’ll let him drone on about this, even though I don’t believe he understands the real issues.
Levin, Limbaugh and these other “opinion” hucksters are useful in the way that a canary in a coal mine is. You watch for what makes them flip-out, go into a coma, or keel over in order to know what’s actually going down.
Trump is rocking the boat for a lot of people who were making money betting against America, and that’s a good thing.
Many of us never forgot his Never Trump background. Never could stand listening to him anyway.
Levin was is and always will be a NeverTrumper asshole who is and always will be very impressed with himself. He is too dumb to recognize the Rope A Dope Sessions is carrying out.
