Moth balls!!!! OK, I need that for the mouse infestation in my car!!!!
I think you are fine.
I once called a vet after one of my cats had killed a mouse, and he wasn’t up to date on his shots.
She said, “I’ve never heard of a rabid mouse.”
I couldn’t kill anything with my bare hands nor with an instrument. I buy humane traps for mice.
Still, just run it by a med person on Monday.
Wash your hands a whole bunch of times and you should be OK. Mouse droppings can carry Hanta virus, rodents can carry fleas, leptospirosis, etc. Launder the clothing you were wearing in as hot a water as it can take, and spray your car trunk with Lysol spray.
A couple of weeks ago, somehow, a small bunny found a way into my home.
As I live alone, the sound of footsteps (hops) caught my attention.
I dimmed the lights. Grabbed my Single Six, loaded with #9 and waited.
It walked right into my bedroom and I smoked it.
First time I’ve ever fired a gun in my home.
You’ll be fine.
You probably won’t have a nightmare about being chased around by a giant carnivous mouse with fangs. Yeah, not worth worrying about.
Now that you’ve gotten a taste for it, I bet now we’ll be hearing news stories from your local area about people finding strangled rats all over the place in public parks, alley ways, etc. “The Rat Strangler” they’ll call you.
Does make your car smell like grandma's attic though.
Two news stories in. the last week of men being killed by mice contact.
Hanta virus ... in mice is rare luckily. But very well known.
Was it chocolate? I could tackle one of those with bare hands too, maybe even without a saucer! Know what I’m sayin’?...Oh.
Mouse, not Mousse’. Never mind.
Small rodents and other wild animals:
Small rodents like squirrels, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, chipmunks, rats, and mice) and lagomorphs including rabbits and hares are almost never found to be infected with rabies and have not been known to transmit rabies to humans.
Now it makes sense. :)
Why was it necessary to wait in ambush for the bunny rabbit instead of just going straight to it? Felt the element of surprise would be safer?
Move up to a rat.

I had it cleaned out. Detailed.
You also could have simply scooped it up , held it close to your face , then, given out a raging loud growling scream roar, the sudden noise and shock of seeing a giant human that close & roaring, would have given the mouse (any mouse) a massive sudden HEART ATTACK. We have performed this on several occasions with 100% success rate . They usually just keel over dead ....
Read “Of Mice and Men”. Then have an adult beverage.
The CDC on Fanta Virus from rodents:

Why is CDC’s 24 hour hot line only open M-F during certain hours?
