I thought the LEFT didnt want a theocracy and abhored religion. But now they have figured a way to use religion for political purposes so they love it. Like Obama reading bible verses.
To be fair, the religious left has made some legitimate points and has been stalwart in the face of criticism when it mattered. I’m thinking of Martin Luther King and William Sloane Coffin. But they mostly bend their interpretation of Scripture to their temporal political ends as you suggest, IMO.
