Well, this should put the lie to the mythical “intelligence of the Germans” forever. Fortunately for Merkel, Germans today are too lethargic to do anything about it.

Intelligence does not equate to wisdom.
I’d say there are too many foolish but intelligent Germans and they proved it since the 1930’s.
