I was just on a blog post today about the death of John McCain and there was a discussion about his integrity compared to his opponents. And one of the people he was compared to was his Republican primary opponent of 2000 George Bush.
This comment caught my eye;

I decided to do some digging and from what I found out it originated from an interview with Tucker Carlson

'I didn't meet with Larry King either when he came down for it. I watched his interview with , though. He asked her real difficult questions, like 'What would you say to Governor Bush?' 'What was her answer?' I wonder. 'Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, 'don't kill me.' I must look shocked -- ridiculing the pleas of a condemned prisoner who has since been executed seems odd and cruel, even for someone as militantly anticrime as Bush -- because he immediately stops smirking.
'It's tough stuff,' Bush says, suddenly somber, 'but my job is to enforce the law.' As it turns out, the Larry King-Karla Faye Tucker exchange Bush recounted never took place, at least not on television. During her interview with King, however, Tucker did imply that Bush was succumbing to election-year pressure from pro-death penalty voters. Apparently Bush never forgot it. Like from what I could see the only evidence I can see is Tucker Carlson's take on the interview not a transcript or anything like that.
So I just wanted to know out of curiosity was it ever confirmed whether Bush ever did that or if Bush himself ever denied doing so? Of all the things I've seen thrown at him over the years I can only vaguely recall this being brought up even once.

Never, EVER use the word “integrity” when talking about John McButtface.
Carrying out the rule of law and letting an execution to proceed should be something absent personal feeling toward the matter. That means divorcing one's self from either supporting the execution of the condemned or trying to stop it based on your own convictions.
The death of another person is sometimes necessary. It should never be mocked or gloated about.

That wasn’t Bush or his campaign, it was independent PACs. Candidates have no control over that, and it’s illegal for them to try to tell them what to say or not.
Who cares if he did and I find it hilarious that leftists are still seething at Lee Atwater for taking the gloves off.
If so, she DESERVED it.
I'm asking it because I believed it at the time, but later somebody challenged me and said he was convinced Bush nevr did that, or at least that Bush's response was characterized as contemptuous only because of the interviewer's biased (mis)interpretation.
In any case, thank God McCain was not president when 9/11 hit.

Her lawyers may have pled to stop her execution, but I remember seeing a couple of interviews where she said she was Christian and she was at peace with being executed.

My stepbrother was a classroom teacher at the Huntsville Texas prison where Karla was executed. He taught prisoners trying to earn their GED’s.
His classroom had big windows that overlooked the walkway the prisoners about to be executed had to be escorted down. He saw quite a few “dead men walking” and Karla Faye Tucker was one of them.
I have a pretty good memory, and recall it just as I described it.
