Procrustes as a terrible Greek who cut off his opponent’s/enemy’s legs in order to get them to fit the existing size of his bed.(the Procrustean bed)
He didn’t wanna get a bigger bed, apparently, because then he wouldn’t be part of Greek Mythology, but instead maybe have been one of Aesop’s Fables. Anyway , the term has come to apply to anyone who alters something on purpose in order “to make it fit” any preconceived notion (of his). In this guy’s case , though, he’s undermined by his own statistics, but he doesn’t seem to notice that.
Procrustes as a terrible Greek who cut off his opponents/enemys legs or stretched them in order to get them to fit the existing size of his bed.(the Procrustean bed)I had to look up the word procrustean. Hmmm...my tablet doesnt even recognize it as a word. Has anybody here used that word in a sentence in the last 12 months? - Artemis Webb
The term Procrustean does not, AFAIK, really exist in the English language apart from the usage, "procrustean bed. Which refers to an arbitrary standard which people are absolutely forced to fit. Racial categories might be an example; some people simply do not fit any standard racial category.
