In the age of the internet and what it will turn into (with the Internet Bill of Rights) I think it is unlikely that Alinsky’s techniques will be useful in the future.
A large part of Alinsky’s techniques are based on ignorance, not freely distributed information.

Back when everybody got their ‘news’ from dead tree purveyors and NTSC Video purveyors, Alinsky tactics worked.
One of their very useful tactics was fixation of the target.
That cannot happen now since there are myriads and myriads of sources for info.....................

Freely distributed information (unless leftist ideas are censored out) will not sink in to stupid people. Many of them will choose the emotional (instead of reason-based) leftist ideas. That's why many "celebrities" are both stupid and leftist. They don't know how to reason.
