I know a couple women who firmly believe giving women the right to vote was a mistake.
As a guy, I could get in lots of trouble making that statement but I tend to agree.
Men have a much stronger ability to compartmentalize and make non-emotional decisions when emotions are running strong.
“One interesting thing I read is some Congressional Republicans in tight races were worried about the harsh talk on immigration regarding birthright citizenship and the caravan.”
I separate those two issues, though I support Trump on both of them.
My advice to Trump would have been to NOT make his birthright policy announcement until after January 1, 2019. I think he should have kept it out of the “media against Trump” tsunami 24/7 for the mid terms and the lame duck session. I think that one thing added some Dim suburban women from Dim sit-at-home to get-out-and-vote.
Birthright citizenship is a complex legal issue, and it requires the Constitutional and judicial history of it to really understand why that history does not support citizenship for children born to folks here illegally.
But the public portrayal of the issue has proclaimed it to be a “without question” issue - born on U.S. soil makes no distinction of status of the parents.
Trumps tweets and comments could never educate or prepare the public for an informed discusssion of it. And many Lib and Moderate women felt like “you gotta be kidding” about it. It was a bad move, I think. I think anyone in his base that supports his position on the birthright was already supporting him on the caravans, and it likely did not get any more additional GOP votes out there.

Could Trump give Dave Brat a position in his Administration?

Yes, he can... And that’s not a bad idea, actually.

This area has been shifting more and more blue for almost two decades. You think that trend is going to not just stop, but reverse itself, in the next two years?

Increased voter turnout during an presidential election year could possibly benefit Brat.
