Brat was the guy that was responsible for getting rid of Eric Cantor. It was so close a race.
Scott Taylor was a young, charismatic guy, but he also lost.
One interesting thing I read is some Congressional Republicans in tight races were worried about the harsh talk on immigration regarding birthright citizenship and the caravan. I think he probably could have made the same points on those issues a little differently. For example, I would not have suggested an executive order on it before the election. His base was turning out anyway, and the media spun it that he was a dictator rewriting the Constitution. I also think he could have spoken about the caravan a little more softly exchanging in more facts/stats - still have the same policy. The media took a comment and made it sound like our soldiers would be firing at migrants who had children with them, and unfortunately, they ran with that until Trump's clarification a day later. He did a great job at the later rallies of getting stats out there about illegal immigration, and that's so key going forward. The media got too much of the narrative spinning criticizing the caravan as racist, saying everyone is just a peaceful asylum seeker, etc. when that's not true of all of those people. I think if we can get the facts out there about illegal immigration (the stats) it can help with suburban voters.
I also believe the media lies regarding the bombing and shooting (blaming Trump for both) hurt. Yeah, you can I wouldn't ever take it seriously, but never underestimate that some people do.
Women are stupid
Pretty much chalk up all losses to that
Theyre really stupid and emotional and stubborn politically
Im sure as the sun coming up tomorrow
Mini blue wave from NYC to Virginia
It is really from Virginia to Maine, and west along the border to Minnesota.
Rather than start a vanity...
The predictions of GOP sizeable house loses were accurate all year long despite many of us refusing to believe or accept them.
G’night. Montana, Nevada & Arizona results can wait until morning. Mississippi run off in several weeks. Hyde-Smith vs Espy.
GA gov & WI & CT results pending..
Those house loses are SAD. 12:35am GOP -25

The media is never going to report what Trump says or does accurately. They are always going to make him out to be a monster.
“The reality is there is a portion of suburban women that don’t like Trump and his tone.”
Translation..we have a bunch of spoiled brats that are financially set for life and all of a sudden they have a snowflake mentality. You can’t please these people...I see it all around me where I live.
What is "sizeable?" For context:
Obama, in his first mid-term election, lost 63 House seats and lost 6 Senate seats.
We just lost about 26 House seats and GAINED Senate seats!
All things considered, not a bad result historically speaking.
"I'm a pro-choice divorced single mom with there cats and a daughter. Dave Brat was too scary for us! I'd like to chat, but the Lifetime movie is about to start."
And a red wave from FL to maybe MT
yes , lost the house and looks like it was not preventable. Attacking Pelosi, Waters etc did not help.
What was the House GOP Message? ?????
Brat was redistricted ...same thing happened to us in the 5th district and we’re stuck w/McEachin now ...plus the Dems targeted Brat and poured millions of dollars into his opponent’s campaign.
Don’t blame Trump on this one. If you want to find someone to blame look at the GOP that didn’t put a dime into Stewart’s campaign; thus no “coattails” for anyone “down ticket” to benefit from ...or Paul Ryan; who not only abdicated his responsibilities as Speaker; but, actually created a divisive atmosphere by openly opposing Trump’s agenda.
Keep your fingers crossed for Arizona and Nevada. If we can get those two Senate seats, it will make losing the House a little less painful.
Great question. All I got was, Speaker Ryan announced his retirement many months ago, but was such a dick that he wouldn't hand over the reigns to a successor until he was through sitting on his ass, blocking the Trump agenda, and waiting for a Dem recapture of the House.
Seems he got his wish....
Taylor never really supported President Trump.
That was my problem with him. Not immigration at all.
He appeared to me to be a wimp. It was a shame, being military and all. I told his office he was making a mistake, but he wanted to be “independent.”
Oops! ...late night here; 5th District should read 4th District
Tester under 50% now - some at Fox think he will lose
Rosendale would be a nice surprise. Montana is going to be a state where the loser Libertarian costs us the seat if Rosendale ends up losing.
Educated (indoctrinated) suburban women are political idiots.
I’m sorry.
