Read the reviews on the new models, and they are crap.

They don't last past a couple months and tend to catch on fire.

The display on ours is broken and a new one cast about $100 so we're just going to keep using it until it finally gives up the ghost.

These days everything is designed with planned obsolescence.

For all the complaining about using up earth's resources, there sure is a lot of irresponsible use of them in that area.
