With a skin-tight outfit like this, do you REALLY need help figuring out the target audience for this POS movie?

I still have virtually every comic book I ever purchased as a kid, all packaged in plastic and stored away. I believe the issue in which Spiderman’s girlfriend was killed is worth $100’s now.

In fact, I have all my paperbacks as well. I was always careful to take great care of my books (guess I worked to hard to buy them). I was a big Doc Savage paperback fan as well, and have a nice collection. I think maybe Doc still inspires me a bit in my real life. :)

(BTW, we don’t talk about the “Shazam” Capt. Marvel.)

She was Ms. Marvel (a la Ms. magazine) from 1977, so there has long been a feminist theme to her character.

That is right. Marvel has had strong female characters for decades.

The Wasp was one of the best leaders of the Avengers.

You can’t call Star Trek or Star Wars science fiction anymore.

You couldn't much even in the old days. Sure Star Trek sometimes built a story around a Sci-Fi plot, but much of it was pure Space Opera. Star Wars is pure D&D Fantasy - like Lord of the Rings in a space setting.

Stargate 1 does a better job of throwing in the "what if" aspect from a scientific angle. The effects of black holes, grandfather paradoxes, the rate of AI evolution, and yes, also a lot of Space Opera.

To the sci fi purists who read Heinlein, Clarke, Niven, etc., I suppose they’re more in the fantasy genre. The original Star Trek seemed to have an Asimov element to me, however. Now it has more of a comic book feel.

So say we all. I haven’t enjoyed a series like that since Babylon 5.

“I enjoy seeing the snow coming down”

Used to love that. I’m still waiting for my first SoCal snowfall to happen.

True, Gene’s vision of the future was a communist utopian one.

Well, it was a military-pioneer-explorer setting, far from big cities, commerce and industry.

Something like that communistic utopian vision might have been at the back of his head, but you could also think that 60s astronauts didn't have much use for money when they were up in space.

I guess they're pretty typical of millennial TV fare - what young people have become used to lately.

And fans who watch everything Star Trek will probably watch as well.

It was a utopian future with some communist leanings. But that never really filtered into the stories because the focus was on space exploration, "where no man has gone before".

And by the way, what does an exploration ship need with phasers, photon torpedoes, and a high-power shield grid? It's the equivalent of Jacque Cousteau's Calypso fitted with depth charges, hellfire missiles, and flak cannons.
