I agree; we have the numbers and we know how to fight. Antifa and their violence-advocating extremist buddies would be most regretful if they go beyond the ballot box and decide to incarcerate us, or even worse.
They wouldn’t have regret for long, but yeah, in the few minutes between what they finally realize is coming and then their demise, they would be very regretful.

Watched it as a kid, "What If -ed" it to death with my friends. With a little hindsight, the premise was pretty silly. Most Cubans and Central Americans were more worried about finding dinner, than about a military invasion.
Watched it again a little while back. Didn't like it quite so much because it made me think entirely too hard. "What if "our" guys decided to do this? What if...?"

I’m with you on this. The edits were suspicious and I never heard words that suggested anything other than “re-education”, which could be a mandatory seminar, also a ridiculous idea, but certainly not a “concentration camp”. The headline is very misleading.
That said, the idiots who signed the petition did not question how these “conservatives” would be identified as targets for re-education. I guess they will just look for anyone wearing a red hat...

Well...the South Americans in Red Dawn were merely auxilliaries to the main Soviet invasion force.
Recall that the USSR wanted American wheat (”Soviet Union suffers worst wheat harvest in 55 years”) to stave off famine in their own country. During the Cold War there were several scenarios about the Russians invading to seize our grain stores.
An old joke went “Better move to Kansas ‘cause they’ll never bomb the wheat”.
Of course, if the Soviets were that desperate for food, it would be much simpler to conquer Europe than to invade North America by air & sea.
It was a fun flick that was the only overt anticommunist film I can remember. Fun to read how lefties in the U.S. were picketing the theaters showing it. IMO John Milius inserted some cultural insults against Russia that would have angered not amused a Soviet audience. Like the Russian soldier’s inept translation of the National Park monument.
I travel to Mexico quite a bit on business; the vast majority down there are very good, fine people but many are intimidated by the drug cartels, who will do anything without remorse and usually, without suffering any justice other than that administered for some other reason by their fellow thieves and thugs in rival cartels. There was a story a year or two ago about how in one of the northern states of Mexico, the prevailing local cartel decided they wanted an old rancher’s land for whatever reason or because they felt like it, so they showed up with guns one day and told the old rancher he had 24 hours to get out and he had better not be there when they returned. The rancher had lived there all his life, had lost his wife and his children were grown and had moved and he had only the ranch and his sense of pride left so he told his farmworkers that he would not leave but would stay and fight for his land to the end; his workers pleaded with him to let them stay and fight alongside him but he refused. The next day his employees came to collect the rancher’s body, which they found riddled with bullets some yards from the bodies of six of the cartel enforcers.
