I got a T-shirt with the outline of Texas on the back with “Screw You, We're from Texas” on the back. I have to be careful wearing it traveling out of Texas.

He is one heck of a guitar player, especially on the acoustic.

Texas kitch— it’s a thing now for marketing, and this guy’s alright. But Dinosaurs remember the real deals:-— Willis Alan Ramsey, Johnny and Edgar Winter (Brownsville, TX), Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Lightning Hopkins,Stevie Ray Vaughan (and brother Jimmy),Guy Clark, T Bone Walker.... and a bunch more of Texas. Almost forgot— Uncle Walt’s Band (Walter Hiatt, Champ Hood and David Ball).
Ray Wylie is an “attitude”— screw you.. etc.

This is OK, but nowhere as powered up as the above in songwriting and musicianship. imho, and that’s all one can have.

Thanks for the movie review.

You mentioned many great names in the business. I have seen SVR, Edgar Winters, Clarence Brown in concert.

I had never heard of Hubbard before, so I thought some other FReepers may know him and see what they have to say.

Guthrie Trapp, and before him— Danny Gatton (RIP). And no- not trying to start a pissing contest. Hubbard’s doing well— great band, but give a listen to Guthrie, and maybe Trey Hensley (right, country picking). Here’s 2 slices from a pro writer/player friend (not Texas, however from down the mtn from us):

Darrell Scott- writer “Great Day to Be Alive”- at the Grey Eagle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHlX9VFc350

Speaking of acoustic, here’s Darrell on his tune “Long Time Gone”—https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lzuOvPfi0Y
