That was my niece. Until now her fanciest cooking accomplishment was zapping popcorn in the microwave.

Congratulations on learning new things. She's more accomplished than some elected members of Congress 3 times her age.

Who puts oil in a pan before cooking bacon?? That’s so dumb.

This is TURKEY bacon. I agree it’s silly when using real bacon but with TURKEY bacon you need to do it. And WHY turkey bacon. Because back in February I bought a TON of turkey bacon packages for about 50 cents each via coupons so I need to use them up before I start with real bacon again.

The chicken was involved.

But the pig was committed.

She was bashing cauliflower the other day as being “colonial” as compared to yucca therefore it violates her Green new deal. We are so lucky to have such genius.

Experience has forced me to admit that turkey bacon can be very tasty. I never use a skillet anymore if given a choice.
I always lay some foil down, and put the bacon in the oven.
Less spattering, less handling needed. I was in my 40’s before I saw somebody do it this way. I was changed forever!

Good for this girl to get experience at the stove, managing the heat and so on. Cleaning up afterwards is all part of it too.

I cannot believe I watched this while making an onion and mushroom omelet.

Yeah, well, they also used cast iron on a glass cook top, which the more AR types would be aghast at, from what I’ve read.

Never used one, but I can understand the abrasive fear.

I'd rather eat fried yuca than cauliflower served any style, but I do like broccoli. My doctor would sure rather I eat cauliflower (or broccoli) than fried yuca or fried potatoes.

to grow yucca in the northeast you’d need fossil fueled fired greenhouses.

Turkey Bacon? Just what part of the turkey is made of ham?

Yeah, you gotta use a little oil with turkey bacon because it’s so lean (guessing here since I’ve never cooked turkey bacon). I’ll even add a little butter with pork sausage since it tends to be leaner than bacon IME.

Cute. My 11 year old decided to cook some bacon once. She did ok, except she forgot to turn off the pan, and the kitchen filled up with smoke. Had to have it cleaned and repainted. But no one was hurt, and the insurance paid to have it done, including the deductible.

There's a published pic (that I can't find) of strips of the various types of "bacon". You can infer what the source is from the contours of the strip.

Other "materials" include duck and soy.
