They can pay more without the government imposing a wealth tax. No one is standing in their way.
I’ve heard there is a process in place, if you want to give gifts to the government. You can give a gift and designate it to help pay down the national debt. Perhaps you can designate it to go to specific programs. Whatever the case, these people can voluntarily pay more. They don’t have to wait for a tax to be levied on them.
theoretically most of those billionaires don’t pay squat. Their gains are on paper and not taxed unless they sell. Capital gains tax are not paid on stock appreciation it’s paid when the stock is sold or cashed in.
They want the tax, so that we can pay for it.
They will dodge it and give it to us to pay. Or use the tax against their “competition”. DuPont is a fine example of a company that loves more regulation but corrupt cronies like Joe Biden will always write an exemption for DuPont to be excluded. DuPont gets to use the new regulations against any up and coming competition.
I am always suspicious of anyone who wants to pay more taxes.
