Don’t forget that we also bought Alaska. Both purchases were made to remove a colonial empire from the Western Hemisphere. In the first case, it was France, in the second, it was Russia.
Why wouldn’t Greenland be the same?
It is currently a remnant of a colonial empire, too.
Of course, if Greenland votes for its own independence, and then petitions to join the U.S., then it would be like TEXAS!
Also The Gadsden Purchase (southern Arizona and southern New Mexico) from Mexico and of course Alaska from Russia.
And didn’t some idiot supposedly buy Manhattan for $20? Oh, that’s worked out well.
