Once again, I have to post Annie Pulled a Hum-Bug, which I do on FR every time Annie goes off the rails.

Sadly, as late as last year, she was still on the Trump train with her book Resistance Is Futile! How the Trump-Hating Left Lost its Collective Mind (New York: Sentinel, 2018). I wish she would straighten up and fly right.

but the facts remain that the emergency powers of the President are great IF the President has the will to use them.

To borrow a page from the last idiot who held the office.

He'll "have more flexibility after the election."

Job number one is to make sure he gets reelected, and going too strong in the first term might endanger that.

If he doesn't start cutting throats and stomping on toes after he is reelected, then i'll get angry about it.

this just seems to be a real hot button with her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amnesty of any kind should be a hot button for everyone.
Since the big one in 1986 there have been several other piecemeal amnesties. They all add up.
What ever number is included in a DACA amnesty will be stretched to include more than predicted.
Every amnesty has worked that way.
It would also make it nearly impossible to remove their parents who broke in with them, their uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.
“a deal will be made with Dems for them to stay!”
Some of us prefer a “deal” that requires those who enter the country illegally have to go back - per longtime US law, that is the “deal” foreign invaders get.
What are you missing? Have you not been listening to Trump’s clear policy against illegal immigration? If you know what his “deal” is going to be proposed to DACA please inform me. Do you know?
I think she is trying to goad him into taking a harder line with his opponents. I think she is misreading the game. In his first term, he needs to concentrate mostly on getting reelected, and the hard line she wants him to take would endanger his support among the moderates and the crossover Democrats who voted for him last election.
Ann needs to take a chill pill and understand that the states he needs to win will not be secured by being as confrontational as she wants. Trump rightly knows that his most important responsibility is staying in office after the election next year, and he's doing what he thinks is necessary to make that happen.
If he doesn't get meaner towards the Democrats after the election, then i'll get mad about it.
She had nothing to do with that article, so they’re not linked.
“Coulter is right on illegal immigration. Trump wants to make a deal on DACA. Coulter is pissed. What am I missing?”
Yup. I’m not sure why anyone would be upset his feet are being held to the fire on this.
The Democrats are simply working from a “They obstructed our Just-Us!” place.
We are the enemy.
Never Trumpers seem to be unable to see this, and in part among Rino’s it’s a simple extension of the same attitude that saw trying to get along with Democrats as being statesman like.
But among conservatives that Trump is simply not a conservative has become a rallying point for them walking away from the line in the midst of battle. They seem to not want to fight for someone who, were he not flamboyant, might be welcome among the Rinos.
But the Democrats have set the terms of this conflict. They are out to end us forever just as they thought Hillary was to do (it wasn’t just their turn but it was only ever supposed to be their turn forever and ever once Obama won). That is why I liken Never Trumpers or those in Congress just walking away to those who walk off of the line.
We are in a war for survival because the Left wants to destroy us forever — our views and our ways are not welcome: we are the bad people — not a battle we can loose but still win the war later.
Oh I’ll certainly be angrier then than now, but the reality is that we only have leverage as voters up to the next election day. We lose ALL leverage after that day.
99.9999% of people who are supporters of President Trump couldn’t possibly care less what Coulter has to say about anything at all.
As far as DACA is concerned the SC heard arguments and even a lib asked many questions of the pro-DACA side that indicated to many observers that the president is about to win again at the SC.
So, this puts the president in the drivers seat in regards to this issue.
There are still fools here who defend Sessions’ DOJ debacle.
I think Sessions was a disaster, but last week I read an article that argued Sessions was actually a brilliant genius in pretending to be a do nothing old fool. The article said that the Durham prosecutions (which it claims are coming) will exonerate Secretary Do nothing and show that he was pulling a bait and switch by lulling Washington DC officialdom into ignoring the doings of his investigators and prosecutors.
I hope this turns out to be true, but till it does, Sessions looks to be the worst mistake Trump has made so far.
Yup. The old term used to be Rockefeller Republican.
In the '50's and '60's, conservatives also called them "me-toos"--as in, "So you're a New Dealer! Me, too! You want to increase welfare spending? Me, too! You want to channel more of our foreign policy through the UN? Me, too!" However, the meaning of that term seems to have changed recently.
You win on a technicality. How clever and brave of you.
Ann wins on substance and absolutely annihilates you
“If you know what his “deal” is going to be proposed to DACA please inform me. Do you know?”
Trump himself clearly announced his end goal: “a deal will be made with Dems for them to stay!”.
I’m not sure how much clearer you can get about keeping illegals instead of sending them back.
She has one subject she cares about.
Demographics.
She speaks the truth.
The country will be just like California soon. So overwhelmed by the invasion coming up from our southern border, the Democrats will dominate 80 percent of the states.
Trump has helped, but it is just not with the urgency that is needed. We should have spent 100 billion to secure the border. It is just too late now.
I used to use and reference that term.
This me-too-ism is still on display with the demand we replace and not just repeal Obamaharm. It’s a way that the me-too’s trick people to fighting on their turf.
We only have leverage when we have a choice. There is absolutely no Democrat that is a viable alternative to Trump. Yes, we lose leverage, but we really don't have any anyways do we?
We have no choice but to trust him to do the right thing and hope that he does.
