A side benefit of Jesus dying on the cross is that it ended a lot of animal sacrifice.

It’s both. Yes mostly Hindu. A quick search showed 53 percent Buddhist 3 percent Muslim 2.9 percent Shamanist.

Whatever the %, it’s beyond disgusting.

Why do we care if the Hindus are sacrificing Bulls? Pretty sure our ancestors did the same thing for thousands of years at mass numbers.

I would only be offended if they don’t at least have a BBQ at the end of it.

Gotta wonder if it’s anything like the Roman ceremony.

Oddly enough, some Hindus are vegetarians. It would appear these are not among them.

Yeah I thought Hindus generally avoid harming animals because of the reincarnation thingy.

“Why do we care if the Hindus are sacrificing Bulls?”

This disgusting event proves that all societies are not deserving of equal respect from the rest of the world.

Violent, ignorant, filthy, barbaric. I don’t want them in my country.

"Gadhimai Temple (Nepali: गढीमाई मन्दिर) is a temple of Gadhimai Devi an aspect of Kali the Hindu goddess of power. The temple is situated in Mahagadhimai Municipality in Bara District of south central Nepal,[1] though the term usually refers to Gadhimai festival, the world's biggest animal sacrifice conducted at the Gadhimai temple area in central Terai of Nepal. Gadhimai Temple Religion Affiliation Hinduism Deity Gadhimai (Goddesses of power) Country Nepal Main article: Gadhimai festival Animals are sacrificed as part of the Hindu festival, with the hope that the sacrifice will lead to the fulfillment of wishes by the goddess.[2] The ritual began at dawn with a ceremonial "pancha bali" or the sacrifice of five animals, comprising a rat, a goat, a rooster, a pig and a pigeon.[3] It is estimated that 300,000 - 500,000 animals were killed during the period of sacrifice in 2009." IMHO, their sacrifice is a total waste of life. Their goddess is obviously not pleased with the sacrifices, which are centuries old, as Nepal remains one of the world's poorest and worst developed countries. They should search for a new God, not a pagan god.

While in theory, you could sacrifice animals without eating them, meat has traditionally been pretty expensive, because to get one pound of meat requires several pounds of feed. All these sacrificed animals are eaten. If you think it through, given the longevity of these traditions, it’s doubtful that pre-modern peasants who typically led a marginal existence had the financial wherewithal to simply sacrifice animals and bury them.

Only if you consider eating the animals sacrificed a waste. And that’s exactly what happens to them. This is essentially an open air slaughterhouse with the livestock processed by amateurs as a form of religious ritual. These are not wealthy people, and meat is expensive.

These people are reed-thin. They have barely enough grain to eat. They certainly can’t afford to waste meat, where each pound produced requires inputs of several pounds of feed.

The meat of the sacrificed animal is usually eaten, or given away to meat-eaters for their consumption.
