I might consider subsidizing trade school tuition for certain trades such as welders, electricians, CNC machinists, and fabricators. Those are high demand, high skill trades where we need better candidates, but any subsidization of “higher education” is a joke.

Unless they tack on a ton of regulations dictating courses of study, we would be subsidizing drunken idiots studying climate change and global women’s studies.

Along with removal of artificial barriers like mandatory union membership.

The Leftist candidates of “the people” would have the electricians and plumbers subsidize worthless indoctrination called “higher education.”

Problem is, trades unnecessarily licensed by the state, like hair and nail care, also have programs of study at many tech schools. They also have mostly “minority” students, ie. females. Funding for those programs tend to get as much as those for programs with mostly “white males,” like CNC machining and welding. Obviously, it costs far less per student to teach nail tech, but it would be racist to give the machining program more total money.
