Yikes. According to new California laws on water use: you can take a shower or you can do a single load of laundry, but you cannot do both. 55 gal per day limit, or face $1k fine.

Wrong, take your laundry into the shower with you. Problem solved.

LOL. Driving to Vegas about 20 years ago, stopped at a gas station, 24 oz of beer in an aluminum can was 69 cents and 24 oz of water in a plastic bottle was $1.89.

I can only guess that they knew many people did not want to get popped for open container or driving under the influence...

Reviewing the law, seems home rainwater collection is NOT exempted from the 55 gallon/day limit.

That’s stupid.

That said, in practice I assume they’ll be monitoring by way of how much water you take in - not what you dump out. I expect a sudden gray market of installing very large water tanks in homes, with a 55 gal/day input (augmented with rain collection) and unlimited (until empty) output. Once legislators find out about that, there will be an uptick in lawn irrigation.

This legislation has been in the offing for a considerable time, but I don’t think anyone took them seriously. Obviously nobody took them seriously, or there would have been more of a movement, more shouting, more protesting about it.

All of this crap came up during the recent drought we are no longer in. This was one of many a liberal suggestion, and now the liberals made it a law.

Californians need to sign that petition to recall Governor Newsome. This guy has to go along with his A.G., and Secretary of State, and vote the rest of them out as their turn comes. No more Democrats, or Schwarzeneggers for California.

Just checked on the law. It only applies to water agencies that don’t draw up water usage plans based on 55gals per person per day. There’s no way that the State would enforce a draconian plan. Even here in Mexifornia.
