OTTAWA – A British and American couple, both unemployed, are seeking to emigrate to Canada despite having no real skills to offer the country, early reports indicate.
British and American media have said that an American actor and her husband have the intention of living in the country on a semi-permanent or permanent basis.
The actor has found some previous work in Toronto which may help her immigration and work permit applications although Citizenship and Immigration Canada has not identified acting as an in-demand trade.
“She has to obtain the proper paperwork indicating that she has a job,” said an Immigration Canada official. “We need references and a criminal record check before her application can move forward, but she hasn’t even been nominated for a single Golden Globe yet.”
‘Being famous’ was not considered a skill in demand unlike a doctor, nurse, engineer, or general labourer. The husband’s application scored 0 out of 70 points on his Canadian work experience despite claiming ‘waving’ and ‘talking’ during his most recent visits to Canada.
The move will also cost Canadians millions in policing and security costs with round-the-clock monitoring.

True dat. The Greatest Generation that fought in WWII gave birth to a large number of idiots: hippies, freaks, draft dodgers, commies, etc. And their dissolute lives handed down to us those current social ills which ironically didn’t even exist in 1968.
Boomers are the worse for wear on that one even though it’s likely most Boomers lived ordinary lives. But enough of them graduated into positions of influence & brought their doping ways with them to seriously mess things up for succeeding generations.
I don’t envy today’s young people in the slightest, even just for their being young, fit, & healthy, with most of their lifespans still in the future. Some future; Lorde singing “Royals” is kind of the Millennials’ national anthem.
No civilization lasts forever, as Gibbon proved in his work “The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire”. But it must have really sucked to be a Roman during the declining era, where all one could say was, “Mehercule! Hoc quidem lapsus et ruina est!” (Gee whiz, this really is a decline and fall!”)

Yes third world countries flock here. I worked in the IT world and have meant many people from India, Malaysia, etc who worked on Visas for 5 years and then became American citizens. We had many chats what it was like in their countries compared to here and how luckily they felt to be here.
The generation today are delusional. Parents are working and just keep buying things for the kids to “Keep up with the Jones”. Never thinking about showing kids responsibility etc.
The influx of foreigners kind of screws us natives either way, IMO. The smart ones like the Indians you describe, take away IT jobs at less pay. The less smart but still employable ones take jobs “that Americans won’t do”.
The stupid ones like Somalis & other Muslims overload our social welfare systems and bring religious warfare.
“Keeping up with the Joneses” has a rich history. I was in high school in the mid 1960’s and social critics (and some religious ones) not only used it to condemn `conspicuous consumption’ but said that KUWTJ diverted the industrial sector away from producing capital goods toward making consumer stuff for people to buy & show off.
Never mind that it’s heavy industry which makes capital goods for expanding production, and light industry which makes consumer goods.
Anyway, KUWTJ reminds me of an earlier time now decades gone. Our next door neighbor was a USAF Lt Col (Dad was an Army colonel); the former bought a 24’ cabin cruiser since we were near the Potomac & Chesapeake. A few months later Dad bought a similar boat and that summer we all sailed up the Bay to a resort marina. They were good friends and we joked all the time about buying boats to KUWTJ.
Three years later both officers got PCS’d overseas and rejoiced on the day that they sold both boats (”a hole in the water lined with wood into which you pour your money”).
Now I’m retired and blessed to be financially secure. Again, I do not envy today’s young people.
Where did young women get the idea that tattoos make them more attractive? That alone makes me glad to be old. My wife & I are both `plainskins’.

Great point. No one should be shocked by this, in light of our public school indoctrination system.
But, what can be done about it?..........
Why can't we make a deal with countries that already have the type of government democrats want, and put in some kind of straight up citizen exchange with them?
One democrat for one citizen of Cuba, Venezuela, NK, China exc.. who wants to live free.
Do not democrats, and those espousing Socialism /Comunism, say it hasn't worked because of "troublemakers"?
Well, here is a chance for democrats to move to places where everything is free, and for these places to be free of those who don't "go along with the program" ( troublemakers).
This is a win-win for both sides.
The dems will try to prove, once and for all, that paradise can be acheived by giving up personal freedom , and letting politicians control every aspect of your life.
And, for those who want to live in freedom, since they have absolutely NOTHING in common with people who are willing to be oppressed for free stuff, this would be a way to avoid the inevitable clash between them.
Both sides get what they want. .
It is the only solution to our troubles, IMO.
